From a documentary to a browser flight experiment
Field Note · 15 August 2026
After watching Operation Safed Sagar, I spent a few days building a fictional reconnaissance flight that runs in the browser.
After watching Operation Safed Sagar, I wanted to see whether the feeling of a high-altitude reconnaissance flight could become a small browser experience.
A few days later, I had something people could open and fly in a browser. The aircraft is inspired by the MiG-21, and the mission involves finding and photographing sites across mountainous terrain.
I kept the scope small enough to finish a playable version. Flight controls and the feeling of moving through the terrain mattered more to me than simulating every aircraft system. It also needed to be approachable for someone opening it on a phone.
The mission is fictional. It isn’t a reconstruction of the operation or a training simulator. The documentary prompted the experiment. The game gave me a reason to work through a set of browser graphics and interaction problems I was curious about.
