Training platforms where every subsystem had to behave as one.

Our defense-training work at GreyKernel combined real-time simulation with physical controls and tracking hardware. Instructors needed to set up scenarios, run a session, and evaluate the trainee’s response. That shaped both the software and the equipment around it.

Connecting the hardware and software

The systems used custom hardware, inertial motion tracking (IMU), and sensor data to drive the simulation. VR and AR devices were part of some setups. Instructor controls and evaluation tools sat alongside the trainee’s experience, so the response on screen had to stay consistent with the physical input.

My role

As co-founder and CTO, I worked on product definition and systems architecture, led technical delivery, and coordinated with domain specialists. A large part of the job was understanding their training requirements well enough to turn them into usable software and physical interfaces.
