Alphaman
2013 · Released mobile game
A shipped mobile game that turned spelling practice into a maze-driven arcade loop across themed worlds.

Spelling, rebuilt as an arcade maze.
Released by The Awesome Game Studio for iOS and Android in September 2013, Alphaman wrapped spelling practice inside an arcade maze. Players guided the character through 11 themed maps, collecting letters in the correct order to complete words while avoiding enemies. Picking up Alphapowers introduced abilities such as teleportation and speed boosts, keeping the learning loop connected to movement, risk, and reward.
I worked on Alphaman as a game developer early in my career. The appeal of the game was the way spelling became part of the play: finding a letter meant navigating the maze and deciding how to get past an enemy. It was a good setting for learning how controls and feedback affect the feel of a mobile game.
